It's So Damn Hot!

I couldn't believe how hot it got here on Sunday! The wind was blowing, but it felt like a blow dryer outside. We took that opportunity to finally see Charlie and the Chocolate factory. It was hard to understand the Oompah Loompah's singing, but the acting was great and the effects were awesome! We went to Fox Bay Cinema's in Whitefish Bay. They have a lounge so when you sit down in the theater a waitress comes by to take your order and they serve it to you! They had an extensive menu and the price wasn't too bad! We had two beers each, popcorn, candy and soda for $24.00! Mike wants to go there again!

Both Nick and Mitch had some buddies camp out in the backyard on Saturday night. Of course, they stayed up late (Mitch stayed up until 6:30a.m.!), drank too much soda, and got eaten up by mosquitos! Nick got bitten by something fierce...because he woke up with an inflamed rash. I put some Cortaid on it, and it seems to be better!

Both Nick and Mitch are going to the Brewer game Tuesday, so....when the kids are away...Mike and Tracy like to play! Actually, we are going to one of our fav restaurants in Tosa for some Italian and adult conversation......which turns into conversation about the boys!

This weekend we are out to the lake to enjoy some fun in the sun! I hope it's not too hot! The boys are excited to get in some watersports with Uncle Don's boat and Mike and I are looking forward to do a little fishing!

I found this about which Napolean Dynamite character are you! I'm one of the few adults that liked this movie....maybe it's my personality! Take the quiz...it's kind of funny. Enjoy!

Harry Potter Mania!

Nick was the first one to receive the copy of the newest Harry Potter book! Here he's pictured with the manager of the bookstore, Kim. Since Nick was the first that means Peg was the second, since I ordered two copies! It was a great night! Everyone who attended the activities beforehand were put into one of the houses of Hogwarts. They had movies, music, potions and snacks! It was a great time for everyone! Mike even got in a little chess playing with Nick and his friends. Speaking of the book, Mitch claims that it's the best one, but much darker. He also read the book in 1/2 a day! He's going to reread because it was so good! Thanks to everyone for the wonderful emails concerning the bookstore's closing. I forwarded them to the bookstore and they are very grateful for the outpouring of support. Posted by Picasa

Johnny Depp!

I cannot wait to see Johnny Depp in the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"! I loved him on 21 Jump Street and I love him today....sorry Mike! Now I hear that Gene Wilder, who was in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, is a bit upset because he thinks that Hollywood remade the movie to make more money! First of all.......let's do a comparison between the two "Willy's"

Here you have Johnny Depp.....a good looking man with slightly femine hair, but none the less.....a handsome looking man!

Here's Gene Wilder.....Ouch! A not-so-good-looking man, with bad hair and a really ugly tie!

Secondly, the title of the book is "Charle and the Chocolate Factory" not "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" In fact, if you've ever read the book, you'd see that the Willy Wonka movie isn't very close to the book.

Finally, I may be wrong......but I don't consider Willy Wonka to be a classic like The Wizard of Oz. You could never remake the Wizard, it just wouldn't be the same! However, you can remake Willy Wonka because it just doesn't have the kind of staying power that other movies have.

On a sadder note.......the little independent bookstore I work at is closing. It just can't keep up with the bigger chains and can't afford to stay open. I really believe in supporting your local businesses because that's what defines a community. I find it so disturbing that school organizations, churches, hospitals etc; will ask for contributions from the "little locally owned" businesses, (coffee shops, bakeries, hardware stores etc;) but won't shop there. We all need to help these locally owned businesses achieve their "American Dream" Trust me......Starbucks, Walmart, Home Depot etc; have already achieved it!

Our Family Trip to Boston

The train to Boston was loooong, about 6 1/2 hours too long. When we arrived we were tired and hungry, but got some sleep and were ready to start our day the next morning. Our first day we set off onto the Freedom Trail to see the historical sites. Some of you may think that it was probably boring for the boys, but they actually enjoyed it! What was funny was how they could place all the things they learned in history to what they were actually seeing in person. I'll post more pics later this week.....now I need to pack for Greenlake!

This is how we all felt when told we were going to be 6 1/2 hours late getting into Boston!
